Eric Morgan, Angel Investor and Chairman
Eric Morgan is the angel investor, mentor and experienced leader of the company; he is also the father of John Paul and Nicolas Morgan. He has 36 years of global management consulting and information technology experience, including significant experience in the global energy sector. His management background includes being the Managing Partner for Ernst & Young Consulting Canada, CEO of Capgemini Ernst & Young Canada and, CEO of Capgemini Spain, Portugal and Latin America. Among his clients and contacts are some of the largest energy companies in the world. He is currently providing the strategic leadership required by the business.
John Paul Morgan, Chief Technology Officer
John Paul Morgan is the inventor and senior designer of this new technology. He has a Masters in Applied Science from the University of Toronto, specialized in optics, condensed matter, and medical imaging. His previous work experience ranges from collaborating in the design of a space telescope, which is currently in orbit, to inventing fibre optics solutions for the telecommunications industry. He first became interested in making solar power significantly less expensive while volunteering for Doctors Without Borders in the Congo and achieved a major breakthrough in 2007, which provided the foundation for the company.
Nicolas Morgan, Director of Business Development
Nicolas Morgan has a Bachelors of Social Science in Anthropology and post-graduate studies in Applied Information Technology. His experience include two years in Spain as an Account Manager for FON Technologies, a Web 2.0 start-up company, and prior experience in technology and computer security, risk management and sales. He has extensive experience in project management, business development, accounts management, marketing and strategy; gained in multiple technology sectors including electricity markets.
Philip Chang, Mechanical Engineer
Philip Chang studied mechanical engineering at the University of Toronto, specializing in a Bachelors of Applied Science in Mechatronics Engineering. In August of 2007, Philip joined Morgan Solar to aid in research and development of optical technology as well as prototyping for Light-guide Solar Optics (LSO). Philip is also responsible for F.E.A. testing and the design of modules along with solar tracking support structures of Morgan solar panels.
Jennifer Fan, Mechanical Engineer
Jennifer Fan joined Morgan Solar in September 2007. She is primarily tasked with developing our assembly and manufacturing methods, and conducting research in CPV technology. She is also responsible for thermal design and analysis. Jennifer is a Mechanical Engineer from the University of Toronto and completed her thesis in alternative energy.
Keith Johnston, Electrical Engineer
Keith Johnston is an Electrical Engineer who is primarily tasked with developing the electrical systems for PV modules and designing and implementing solar panel testing protocols. He studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Calgary, and went on to complete a Masters of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering with a focus in Nano-Structured Photovoltaic Materials at the University of Toronto. He joined Morgan Solar in March, 2008.
Sebastian Martinez, Business Development Intern
Sebastian Martinez is in his last year at Ryerson University earning a Bachelors of Commerce degree with a specialty in Entrepreneurship. At Morgan Solar he supports the administration and business development efforts part time while in school and full time during the summer. He will become a full time employee when he graduates at the end of 2008.
