Asif Ansari

Chief Executive Officer

Asif Ansari is considered one of the most successful start-up CEOs in the solar energy world. He has founded dozens of successful companies and led the development and commercialization of over 20 technical products in the cleantech and aerospace markets. He was the former CEO of Los Angeles based eSolar where he attracted financial backing from Google and emerged as a global leader in solar thermal technologies. Prior to eSolar he served as EVP in charge of R&D, Engineering and Manufacturing at the CPV company Energy Innovations. Mr. Ansari holds a BEME from NED University of Engineering & Technology in Karachi, Pakistan and an MSME from the University of Minnesota.

John Paul Morgan

President & Chief Technology Officer

John Paul Morgan founded Morgan Solar in 2007 to find a way to make solar energy significantly less expensive. After serving as Acting CEO from 2007 to 2010, John Paul is now Morgan Solar’s President and Chief Technology Officer, and leads on product design and new product development. John Paul earned a Masters degree in Applied Science from the University of Toronto, specializing in optics, condensed matter, and medical imaging. His previous work experience includes collaborating on the design of a space telescope, and inventing fibre optics solutions for the telecommunications industry.

Nicolas Morgan

Vice-President, Business Development and Marketing

Nicolas Morgan is a co-founder of Morgan Solar, and leads the company’s Business Development and Marketing efforts. He holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Anthropology and a post-graduate degree in Applied Information Technology. Before coming to Morgan Solar at the start of 2008, Nicolas spent two years in Spain as a senior manager for FON Technologies, a Web 2.0 start-up. At FON, Nicolas coordinated the activities of business development teams in Europe, North America and Asia. Prior to this, Nicolas worked at Ernst & Young as a risk management and business process advisor to the Ontario electricity sector

Eric Morgan

Senior Advisor to the Board

Eric Morgan is the angel investor, mentor, and experienced leader of the company; he is also the father of John Paul and Nicolas Morgan. He has 36 years of global management consulting and information technology experience, including significant experience in the global energy sector. His background includes being the Managing Partner for Ernst & Young Consulting Canada, CEO of Capgemini Ernst & Young Canada and, CEO of Capgemini Spain, Portugal and Latin America. Among his clients and contacts are some of the largest energy companies in the world. He is currently providing strategic counsel to Morgan Solar’s Board of Directors.

Sean Carton

Director of Manufacturing

Sean Carton joined Morgan Solar in March 2010 as Director of Manufacturing, and oversees the development of Morgan Solar’s manufacturing strategy and implementation.  He comes to Morgan solar with over 26 years of experience in setting up automated production lines for new technologies.  Sean has spent the last 15 years at Nypro Inc., a global leader in injection-molded plastics and contract manufacturing with operations in 15 countries.  At Nypro, Sean established global manufacturing operations for numerous Fortune 500 companies.

Philip Chang

Director of Product Development

Philip Chang joined Morgan Solar in 2007 and played a key role in designing the breakthrough Light-guide Solar Optic, the fundamental technology behind the Sun Simba CPV module. Philip now leads the Product Development team, overseeing the design of the Sun Simba module and its transition to mass manufacture. In this role, he works closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure design specifications can be met in long-term high production volumes.  Philip holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering, specialization in Mechatronics Engineering, from the University of Toronto.

Jennifer Fan

Senior Applications Engineer

Jennifer Fan joined Morgan Solar in 2007 after graduating with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto.  Jennifer has been responsible for researching and evaluating the materials used to build the Sun Simba, and performing computational fluid dynamics and finite element analysis to study the Sun Simba’s heat dissipation, thermal stress, and wind loading properties. Now as Senior Applications Engineer, Jennifer leads on planning, sourcing the Balance of System (BOS), and coordinating test and demonstration sites, which range from 10 kiloWatt to multi-MegaWatt installations.

Sebastian Martinez

Business Development Manager

Sebastian Martinez joined Morgan Solar in 2007 as the company’s first employee. He initially managed all operations and administrative responsibilities, while supporting Business Development efforts. As Morgan Solar has grown, he has transitioned to the role of Business Development Manager, and is now the main liaison between Morgan Solar and prospective clients. Sebastian holds a Bachelor of Commerce, major in Entrepreneurship, from Ryerson University.

Stefan Myrskog, Ph.D.

Director of Science

Stefan Myrskog holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Toronto, specializing in atomic and optical physics. He joined Morgan Solar in 2008 as Chief Scientist of the research and development team where he leads on optical design, performance modeling, and metrology. Dr. Myrskog got his start in solar while researching semiconductor nanocrystals and fabricating infrared photodetectors and photovoltaics within the University of Toronto’s Sargent Research Group.

Hugo Navarro

Vice-President of Finance & Operations

Hugo Navarro joined Morgan Solar in July 2009 and is responsible for the company’s internal financial management and business operations. Prior to joining Morgan Solar, he worked as an energy and commodity market analyst for Her Majesty’s Treasury and for consultancy firms in the UK. Hugo also brings expertise in managing finances and operations within start-ups from his work as Chief Operations Officer for Campusfood.com during its national expansion. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics), from McGill University and a Master’s of Arts (Economics) from the New School for Social Research.
